WGA Toss Out Park Chan-Wook & Don McKellar For Writing On HBO’s ‘The Sympathizer’ During 2023 Strike
WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA, AUG 9 – Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar were expelled for writing during the 2023 Writers Guild strike, reflecting WGA's enforcement of strike rules against violations.
- On Friday, the Writers Guild of America expelled Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar for working on HBO's The Sympathizer during the 2023 strike.
- Amid a halt of Hollywood production for almost six months, the WGA had earlier disciplined seven writers during the 148-day 2023 strike.

- Losing guild membership, they are barred from working at Disney, HBO, Netflix and other WGA signatories, and the WGA said all Article X proceedings have concluded.
- Meanwhile, Anthony Cipriano remains suspended until May 1, 2026, affecting his future projects and industry standing.
