ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN, JUL 7 – Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to enhance trade, transit, and security cooperation, removing a 10% processing fee to facilitate Afghan transit trade, officials said.
- The initial high-level discussions between Pakistani and Afghan officials at the additional secretary rank took place on July 7, 2025, in Islamabad, concentrating on enhancing trade, security, transit cooperation, and connectivity.
- These talks followed Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar's April 19 visit to Kabul and addressed threats from terrorism and implementation of previously agreed measures.
- Delegations agreed to finalize the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway framework soon and discussed repatriation issues while reaffirming commitments to legal cross-border movement.
- Beginning in early 2024, Pakistan has granted more than half a million visas to Afghan nationals seeking entry for medical treatment, tourism, business, and educational activities, demonstrating its commitment to supporting documented travel.
