Özgür Özel, head of Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), has extended an invitation to opposition Homeland Party (MP) leader Muharrem İnce, who was the opposition's presidential candidate in the 2018 elections, to return to the CHP amid an escalating crackdown on opposition figures, the Birgün daily reported on Wednesday.
There has been a signal from Muharrem İnce, the General of the Homeland Party, who could not achieve the expected rise with the party he founded approximately 4 years ago, to return to the CHP. İnce, who was visited by CHP General Chairman Özgür Özel at the party headquarters and invited to "come back", left the door open.
Özgür Özel visited the Homeland Party. Özel said, "We invited Mr. Muharrem İnce and our friends in the Homeland Party to his father's house."
