Energy bills are becoming unaffordable for a growing number of families. Especially outside the Randstad, households are paying significantly more. Even within cities, the differences are widening: in some neighborhoods, only a small portion of income goes to energy, while other families spend hundreds of euros. Ben Woldring, founder of GasLicht.com, explains this in Nieuws van dag out (News of the Day).
Energy is at risk of becoming unaffordable for millions of households within ten years because they are unable to make their homes more sustainable. The gap between residents of the Randstad and those in other provinces is widening. This is according to research conducted by Berenschot on behalf of Essent.
In the northern provinces and Limburg, households spend significantly more on energy on average than in the Randstad.
