Western Norway braced for 35mm of rain in a single hour
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute (Met) has issued an orange warning for "very heavy rain showers" along the entire western coast of the country, with as much as 35mm of rain possible in some places in a single hour.
With the highest possible risk level for torrential rain, large parts of Southern Norway braced for the worst. But things turned out better than the weather forecasters feared.
Torrential rain can lead to flooding and the risk of landslides and rockfalls in several places in Telemark. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration urges everyone who is going out on the road to follow weather forecasts.
