Operation crumble – PHOTO GALLERY

Summary by Sault Star
Front portions of the former General Hospital on Queen Street East are dismantled Friday afternoon. Demolition, which began on the Lucy Street side of the building, is expected to continue until October. Current work comes on the heels of a final interior inspection confirming all asbestos abatement was complete and the building was ready to be crumbled. Since fall 2025, some 380 loads of debris, weighing 4,007 tonnes, have been removed.
