Operation Aaghat 3.0: Delhi Police Launch All-Out Sweep, Arrest 285, Seize Arms and Drugs Before New Year
Operation Aaghat 3.0 led to the arrest of 285 people under multiple acts and the seizure of weapons, drugs, and vehicles to prevent New Year crimes, police said.
- On the intervening night of Friday, the Delhi Police launched Operation Aaghat 3.0 across the national capital, arresting 285 people under the Excise Act, the NDPS Act and the Gambling Act.
- As Delhi prepared for New Year celebrations, Delhi Police conducted the sweep to strengthen law and order, DCP South East Hemant Tiwari said.
- Police reported recoveries that included 21 country-made pistols, 20 live cartridges, 27 knives, 12,258 quarters of illicit liquor, 6.01 kg of ganja, Rs 2.30 lakh, 310 mobile phones, 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler.
- In preventive operations, police rounded up 1,306 people, apprehended 504 and detained 116 listed 'bad characters', with cases registered under attempt to murder and related sections.
- A brief exchange of fire in Narela resulted in two wanted men injured, arrested, and pistols, a motorcycle, and cartridges recovered; they were taken to RHC Hospital.
