Elijah Wood, known for playing Frodo Baggins, surprised a Hobbiton wedding couple and posed for photos during his visit for the Armageddon Expo, Hobbiton hosts about 100 weddings annually.
- Recently, Elijah Wood surprised a Rotorua-based couple at their Hobbit-themed wedding at Hobbiton Movie Set in Waikato, congratulating Sharik Burgess-Stride and Jessica Burgess-Stride and posing for selfies before leaving.
- After jokingly suggesting the venue, Sharik Burgess-Stride and Jessica Burgess-Stride chose Hobbiton Movie Set despite Jess never visiting, while Sharik had visited five times and collected memorabilia.
- On Monday, a Hobbiton TikTok video shows Wood arriving with camera operators as the bride and groom exclaim `Oh my God.` Wood wore a jacket, jeans and sneakers.
- Guests cheered and were bewildered as they realised a cast member had appeared, while photographer Cath Ullyett said she nearly forgot how to use her camera and Hobbiton Movie Set staff called the visit an absolute first and very special moment.
- Wood was in New Zealand for the Armageddon Expo and revisited Hobbiton Movie Set, a 12-acre farm with 44 reconstructed Hobbit dwellings that hosts about 100 weddings yearly.
