Nvidia takes $1 billion stake in Nokia
- On Tuesday, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced a $1 billion investment in Nokia Corporation to integrate AI into mobile networks and enable 6G-ready networks.
- Nokia will use proceeds from the investment to support its AI and cloud strategy, advancing trusted connectivity for the AI supercycle and developing 5G and 6G RAN software on NVIDIA's architecture.
- Nokia's board resolved to issue 166,389,351 new shares to NVIDIA at USD 6.01 per share, giving NVIDIA a 2.90% stake while the new shares represent 2.98% before issuance.
- Nokia's stock jumped more than 25 percent after the announcement, with new shares expected to register in November and trade as American Depositary Shares on Nasdaq Helsinki, Euronext Paris, and the New York Stock Exchange.
- One estimate published earlier this month suggests telco operators can earn roughly $5 in AI inference revenue per $1 invested in AI-RAN, while Nvidia recently committed capital to Intel and OpenAI .
