Nvidia supplier SK Hynix second-quarter profit soars 68% to a record high, revenue also hits new highs
SOUTH KOREA, JUL 23 – SK Hynix's second-quarter operating profit rose nearly 69% year-on-year to 9.2 trillion won, driven by doubling sales of high-bandwidth memory used in AI computing.
- SK Hynix in Seoul posted on Thursday a record quarterly profit soaring 68% year on year, with revenues reaching all-time highs.
- Driven by growing AI model inference needs, high-bandwidth memory accounted for 77% of SK Hynix’s Q2 revenue and is set to double year on year.
- On inventory and finances, shipments of DRAM and NAND flash exceeded expectations, while cash and cash equivalents grew by 2.7 trillion won to 17 trillion at end-June.
- Following the record results, SK Hynix boosted its 2025 investment plan, expecting higher capital expenditure to support HBM customers in 2026.
- Looking ahead, SK Hynix is preparing for mass production of HBM4 before year's end, as G. Dan Hutcheson of TechInsights said, `Nvidia suppliers like SK hynix will continue to enjoy strong demand in the coming months and years for memory chips due to the high memory content needed to make AI chips functional.
