North Korea's Kim Jong Un reappointed as president of state affairs, KCNA says

On March 23, 2026, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was reappointed as president of the State Affairs Commission at the first session of the SPA, said KCNA.
Following last month's Ninth Workers' Party Congress, the SPA convened to enact laws and formalize decisions through new deputies to the 15th SPA.
The session reshuffled senior posts, naming Ri Son-gwon and Kim Hyong-sik as vice chairmen, retaining Premier Pak Thae-song, appointing Kim Tok-hun first vice premier, promoting Jo Yong-won, and relieving Kim Yo-jong.
Sunday's meeting debated constitutional revisions, the five-year national development plan and the 2026 state budget, KCNA said.
Kim's reappointment reinforces his prolonged rule and marks his third consecutive term since the commission's 2016 creation, as attention focuses on whether his 'two countries hostile to each other' stance toward South Korea will be codified.
