North Carolina is America's Top State for Business in 2025, led by a strong workforce and economy
NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES, JUL 10 – North Carolina leads with a low corporate tax, bipartisan support, and nearly $17 billion in new investments creating over 20,000 jobs, CNBC reported.
- On July 10, 2025, CNBC named North Carolina the top state for business, besting Texas, Florida, Virginia and Ohio, scoring 1,614 out of 2,500 points.
- Despite partisan divides, both parties emphasize supporting business, as the Republican-led General Assembly has slashed tax rates, cut regulations and backed job training, said Senate leader Phil Berger.
- JetZero pledged to build its first factory in Greensboro, creating 14,500 jobs, while Amazon said it would invest $10 billion in a Richmond County data center.
- Responding, Gov. Josh Stein said `It’s all about our people`, adding `This confirms what we have known for a long time — that North Carolina is the best state in the country for business`.
- Looking ahead, in March, an executive order created the Council on Workforce and Apprenticeships to improve workforce development, and continued investment in jobs, education and innovation positions North Carolina as a national leader in economic competitiveness.
