Australian woman arrested in US after allegedly voting illegally in federal elections

Denise Nataly Migliore, a 51-year-old lawful permanent resident from Australia, was arrested for illegally voting in the 2022 and 2024 federal elections in Louisiana by falsely claiming U.S. citizenship during voter registration and ballot casting.
Migliore faces charges including making false statements to register to vote and illegal voting, with potential penalties of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and fines up to $250,000.
Homeland Security Investigations arrested Migliore at the federal courthouse in New Orleans following an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the FBI.
Acting Assistant DHS Secretary Lauren Bis stated that noncitizens who vote illegally will be found, arrested, face criminal charges, and deportation, emphasizing that only Americans should elect American leaders.
