French justice suspended on Sunday 13 July a measure of the mayor of Nice aimed for environmental reasons to limit the number of giant ships docking in this region of the Côte d'Azur, recaptured for a matter of administrative competence.
A French court today suspended the decision of the mayor of Nice to limit the number of giant cruise ships that dock in this region of the French coast.
The administrative judge considers that the metropolis of Nice is not competent to limit the arrivals of ships from cruise in the bay. Therefore, the decree made in this direction by Christian Estrosi has been cancelled this Sunday 13 July. - Nice: suspension by the court of an order of Estrosi limiting the ships from cruise (Policy).
The mayor of Nice had justified this order on behalf of the "climate emergency", but the court considered that the metropolis was not competent to issue such measures.
Christian Estrosi, president of the Métropole de Nice, had taken an order to limit cruise ships in Nice and in the Bay of Villefranche. A decision suspended by the administrative court, considering that only the prefect is competent to take this kind of measure.
