Tropical Development Chances Increase Slightly for Disturbance Off Florida Coast
FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, JUL 14 – Invest 93L has a 40% chance of tropical development this week and could bring over 7 inches of rain causing flash flooding across Florida and the Gulf coast, officials said.
- At 8 p.m. July 14, the National Hurricane Center said Invest 93L has a 20% chance of development within 48 hours, offshore Florida's east coast.
- Conditions offshore Florida are favorable and, according to the National Hurricane Center, a tropical depression could form as the system moves into the northeastern and north-central Gulf by mid to late week.
- Some forecasts indicate heavy rainfall could produce localized flash flooding over parts of Florida and the north-central Gulf Coast, National Hurricane Center said.
- NHC forecasters say the system is forecast to move west into the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, July 15, and rain chances will increase in the Tallahassee area Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
- The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season runs through November 30, with the fourth named storm arriving around August 15, 2025.
