New Wisconsin AD Shawn Eichorst Hopes to Bring some Texas Swagger to Madison
He returns after stops at Wisconsin, Miami, Nebraska and Texas, bringing five years of experience at a program that won five Directors’ Cups in six years.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Shawn Eichorst was introduced as Wisconsin's new athletic director, returning to the university where he previously served as a deputy athletic director.
The University paid CSA Search and Consulting $150,000 to manage the search, which concluded two and a half months after Chris McIntosh left to become the Big Ten deputy commissioner.
Joining from Texas, where the program won the Learfield Directors Cup five times in the last six years, Eichorst signed a five-year contract worth $1.6 million annually.
Stabilizing the Badgers' football program remains a priority, as coach Luke Fickell has gone 17-21 following his successful tenure at Cincinnati.
Born in Lone Rock, about 45 miles from Madison, Eichorst said "I love this state, and I love everything that it represents," emphasizing his commitment to unite elite head coaches.
