New St Helens Reform councillor who made adult films quits
The council says a vacancy notice has been posted after the resignation, and Reform UK said Mousdell had not broken the law.
Reform UK councillor Stephen Mousdell resigned from his Haydock Ward seat on St Helens Council after reports emerged about his work in the adult film industry under the alias Lachlan Taylor.
An LBC investigation revealed Mousdell appeared in explicit videos on OnlyFans; Reform UK initially defended him, stating he "has not broken the law" and private life choices are personal business.
Mousdell confirmed his resignation citing "immense pressures from the media" and mental health struggles, maintaining he had "done no wrongdoing" and abided by UK laws throughout his adult profession.
Reform UK later called the situation a "sad state of affairs," alleging a "media witch-hunt," while St Helens Council posted a "notice of vacancy" to initiate the by-election process.
The Haydock Ward departure follows a pattern of recent councillor resignations and suspensions, including cases involving offensive social media posts, leaving the seat vacant for a new representative.
