New bill seeks to protect renters from ‘financial trap’

(KRON) -- California Assemblyman Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) is touting a new bill to protect renters from landlords who charge unexpected fees on top of rent. AB 1248, "End Unfair Junk Fees on Renters," would require landlords to include all tenant costs in the rent, rather than charging separate fees.
