- On Thursday, javelin star Neeraj Chopra and badminton coach Pullela Gopichand launched the Indian School of Coaching Excellence in New Delhi alongside AISTS INDIA to strengthen India's sporting ecosystem through improved coach development.
- Chopra, who recently won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, stressed the need for a robust coaching ecosystem, as both founders emphasized coaches are central to athletic development and continuous upskilling.
- The ISCE will offer multidisciplinary programmes integrating physical literacy, sports science, sports education, technology, and career development, extending beyond technical training to prepare coaches for evolving high-performance demands.
- Gopichand, who has coached Olympic medallists Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, said "We believe this initiative can play a meaningful role in shaping the next chapter of Indian sport" and building a robust coaching ecosystem.
- The future of Indian sport will be defined by the ecosystem being built, as ISCE combines global best practices with Indian experience to enable coaches to continuously upskill and sustain India's long-term world-stage success.
