Drones Target Oil Refinery in Western Siberia’s Tyumen Region in What May Be Ukraine’s Farthest Strike Yet
Authorities in Western Siberia’s Tyumen region said they downed three drones near an industrial site on Monday evening in what may be the furthest Ukrainian drone incursion reported inside Russian territory since the start of the war.
A drone attack on Monday night targeted an industrial site in Siberia, a first in a city more than 1800 kilometres from Ukraine.
In the fight against Russia, Ukraine targets the Russian oil industry, including long-range drones, which the Ukrainian military is now supposed to have managed to reach beyond the Ural Mountains. The consequences of the attack are unclear.
Ukraine used drones on Monday evening to attack the Tyumen oil refinery in Russia, located 2,000 kilometers from the border, making it the longest airstrike carried out by Ukrainian forces in the ongoing war.
Three drones were found and disposed of on the premises of the plant in the district of Antipino in Tümeni, as reported on television by the Government of the Tumen region.
