- French Quarter residents reacted with alarm, and Nervous Dwayne said 'I kind of feel bad for him because that's one of the main rules of being in the Army I would think is you're always supposed to have your weapon in your hands and not in somebody else's.'
- The weapon was returned to the Louisiana National Guard, and the soldier and incident are being handled internally, Noel Collins said, while Bob Simms called it an unfortunate mistake.
- The incident comes after last year's Bourbon Street terror attack, and guardsmen on foot patrol have been working many hours daily to enhance security.
