Alice and Ellen Kessler, iconic European entertainers, chose a joint assisted suicide after long deliberation, reflecting their wish to die together and be buried in one urn, German Humanist Association said.
- On Tuesday, Munich police confirmed the deaths of Alice and Ellen Kessler as a joint suicide in Grünwald, where the twins, aged 89, shared a house.
- They trained at the Leipzig Opera children's ballet and, at 16, fled to West Germany, dancing in a Düsseldorf revue, police said Tuesday.

- They credited longevity to `Discipline, every day,` and, shortly before their 90th birthday, Alice said they probably couldn't perform so long alone.
- Known as twin dancers and singers who launched careers after World War II, Alice and Ellen Kessler gained lasting recognition in the 1950s, with Alice saying being a twosome `only has advantages`.
