Mother of Henry Nowak killer could be deported
The Home Office said it will seek to deport foreign criminals, while Kaur may be freed early under the scheme that has released 650 prisoners this week.
Kiran Kaur, who was jailed for three years for assisting her son in the murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, is expected to be released early under the government's prison scheme.
Judge William Mousley sentenced Kaur to three years in July for removing the 21cm knife her son, Vickrum Digwa, used to fatally stab Nowak on December 3, 2025.
As an Indian national, Kaur could face deportation, though the Home Office has made no final decision. The department states it will "always seek to deport foreign criminals at the first opportunity."
Both Kaur and Digwa are scheduled for a Court of Appeal hearing on November 5, with the Attorney General challenging Digwa's 21-year minimum term as unduly lenient.
The government's early release scheme aims to manage prison capacity by releasing 5,000 inmates in stages over the next year. Ministers implemented the program to prevent the justice system from collapsing.
