- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, on Thursday to lead the Pakistani delegation at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Foreign Ministers meeting scheduled for July 23–24.
- The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation comprises 10 member states including Pakistan, China, and Russia, and has evolved from a 2001 security group into a regional trade and economic forum with two observer states, Afghanistan and Mongolia.
- On Friday, Dar met with Foreign Minister Wang and Kyrgyz Republic President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, with the Foreign Office noting a "warm and productive exchange of views" regarding regional and global developments.
- Dar underscored "the importance of continued collaboration" among SCO members as Pakistan prepares to assume the chairmanship for 2026–27, while Wang conveyed best wishes for Pakistan's diplomatic efforts for regional peace.
- Earlier this month, President Asif Ali Zardari and Kyrgyz Republic President Zhaparov reaffirmed their commitment to boosting bilateral ties, focusing on deepening trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two nations.
