Man accused of rape, kidnapping booked in East Baton Rouge jail
- Christopher "Elmo" Istre, a 39-year-old Jennings man, was arrested and booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail after an assault on Saturday afternoon in a home on Merry Street near La. 26.
- The Jennings Police Department responded to a report of rape and found Istre walking south on LA 26 near the Oil and Gas Park off I-10.
- The 79-year-old victim was allegedly dragged by her hair into a bathroom and sexually assaulted, according to police reports.
- Chief Danny Semmes indicated that the victim and suspect knew each other, though the nature of their relationship was not disclosed, and Istre was charged with first-degree rape and sexual battery of the infirmed with his bond set at $450,000.
- Separately, the New Orleans Police Department is investigating sex crimes linked to 26-year-old Max Alexander Dobbs, who faces charges of second-degree rape and kidnapping and is currently jailed in East Baton Rouge Parish, with authorities asking anyone with information to call the Special Victims Unit at 504-658-5523 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
