- On July 9, 2025, Becker County deputies responded to a domestic assault at a rural residence, leading to a pursuit and shooting in Otter Tail County involving Todd Ole Burris.
- The incident began after Burris assaulted a woman, took her handgun, slashed her tires, and fled during a traffic stop initiated by Lt. Sweere in Detroit Lakes.
- Lieutenant Sweere and Officer Vaughn followed Burris to a rest stop near Frazee on Highway 10, where Burris exited his vehicle and aimed a handgun at the officers, resulting in gunfire between them.
