Milwaukee Public Museum reveals new name and logo for future museum
Officials revealed on Tuesday in Milwaukee that the Milwaukee Public Museum will relocate to a new downtown building and rebrand as Wisconsin’s Museum of Nature and Culture when it opens in spring 2027.
The name change reflects the museum’s expanded statewide reach and its mission to share natural and cultural histories across all 72 Wisconsin counties.
The new 200,000-square-foot, five-story building at Sixth Street and McKinley Avenue downtown includes a logo inspired by Mill Bluff State Park’s rock formations in central Wisconsin.
Dr. Ellen Censky, the museum’s president and CEO, explained that the new name recognizes nearly 150 years of work dedicated to exploring the connections between Wisconsin’s natural environment and the varied cultures that have influenced it.
The museum remains dedicated to inspiring curiosity and safeguarding natural and cultural diversity, welcoming visitors from Wisconsin and other regions to engage with its vast and varied collections.
