In the last few hours, the national government enabled the purchase and possession of semi-automatic weapons for civilians, a measure that revokes a ban that was in force since 1995, during the presidency of Carlos Saúl Menem. The decision was formalized this Wednesday by decree 397/2025, published in the Official Gazette, which establishes a “special authorization regime” for the acquisition and possession of this type of weapons.
