Mexico’s government is increasingly confident about a possible trade deal with the US that includes reduced tariffs on key exports like steel, aluminum and light vehicles, according to multiple Mexican officials familiar with the situation.
Mexican Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard said that they are seeking a reduction in tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobiles in negotiations with the United States. Ebrard stated that negotiations are ongoing regarding tariffs under Section 232, and that they are focused on protecting businesses and jobs.
