By Bob Sutton Special to The Alamance News Nick Mathews of Mebane tied for the top spot in a U.S. Open local qualifier this month at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh. Competing on his home North Carolina State course, he was one of five golfers out of 84 to advance to the next stage of qualifying.
