Manipur: Four killed, three injured in Kamjong violence
On Saturday, authorities reported four deaths in Manipur's Kamjong district following violent exchanges between Kuki and Naga armed groups, including three suspected Kuki National Army cadres and a woman civilian.
The violence originated Friday night in Kuki-majority Chassad after a protest against Indian Reserve Battalion detentions turned fatal, resulting in the death of protester Domkhonei Touthang.
District authorities imposed prohibitory orders under Section 162 of the BNSS within a 400-metre radius of Chassad police gate junction, prohibiting the assembly of five or more people.
More than 10 houses belonging to Kuki and Tangkhul families were torched during the violence, prompting the Kuki Human Rights Forum to demand a judicial inquiry.
Intense firing continued into Saturday morning, with reports of a gun attack on Ningchou, a Tangkhul Naga village near the India-Myanmar border, as tensions escalate.
