Man in 40s shot dead in south Dublin
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage as they investigate the shooting, with an incident room opened and road closures in place.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, a man in his 40s died after a shooting at Patrician Park on Kill Avenue in Dun Laoghaire at approximately 8:30am.
Detectives launched a formal investigation into the fatal shooting, appointing a Senior Investigating Officer to lead the inquiry while preserving the scene for the Garda Technical Bureau.
Road users with dash-cam footage from near Kill Avenue between 8:00am and 9:00am on Sunday are asked to contact the Garda Confidential Line with any information.
Local Labour Party councillor Thomas Joseph described the incident as "quite shocking," noting that residents were not expecting such violence in the daytime in their quiet area.
The Coroner has been notified of the death, and a post-mortem examination will occur in due course as the investigation continues.
