According to the Dare County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday evening, June 23, 2025 at 8:03 p.m., Aulander Leon Liverman, 63, walked out of his home across from Westcott Park on Roanoke Island, yelling and waving a handgun. He fired the gun once into the air, reports DCSO. Five adults and 10 children were in the park practicing baseball. Witnesses did not understand what Liverman was yelling.
