Man charged with bomb threat against US Consulate in Halifax after 2 Toronto consulate shootings
Ali Assakereh was charged by Canadian police for making a bomb threat against the U.S. Consulate in Halifax following recent security incidents at U.S. diplomatic posts in Canada.
Halifax Regional Police evacuated several downtown streets after finding a vehicle linked to Assakereh near the consulate containing a propane tank and flammable liquids.
Charges of uttering threats and public mischief were laid against Assakereh by Halifax Regional Police.
An explosives expert found that the vehicle's contents did not pose a public safety threat, and authorities have not confirmed any connection between the Halifax threat and the shootings at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto.
