Prosecutor Drops Charges Against Man Arrested in Ohio Festival Shooting that Wounded 12
Prosecutors cited new evidence after 12 people were wounded at the crowded festival, and a judge dismissed the case without prejudice.
On Friday, a prosecutor in Ohio dropped charges against Eljay Crisp-Carr, who was arrested following a June shooting that wounded 12 people at a neighborhood street festival.
The gunfire erupted June 6 during the Old West End Festival in Toledo, where a fight between rival groups escalated into a shooting in a neighborhood dotted with Victorian homes.
In September, Lucas County prosecuting attorney Julia Bates informed Crisp-Carr's attorney of discovery "that may support his defense," supporting defense attorney Alex Bodiford's argument that police arrested the wrong man.
A judge dismissed the charges without prejudice, meaning prosecutors retain legal authority to refile charges, while The Toledo Police Department continues its investigation.
Another defendant charged in the shooting remains in jail and is scheduled for a court appearance on Nov. 9, as the investigation persists.
