Man and Woman in Court on Charges Related to Fatal Waterford Arson Attack

Police say the pair face three charges each after the fatal house fire that killed four members of the English family.

  • Cian Stacey, 21, and Jessica Dalton, 31, appeared at a special sitting of Clonmel District Court on Saturday, charged with one count of criminal damage and two counts of assault causing serious harm.
  • The fatal arson attack occurred Tuesday morning shortly after 5 am at Birch Avenue, Birchwood, allegedly started with a petrol bomb linked to a disputed €20k drug debt.
  • Four members of the English family—Philip, Kim, Callum , and Jayden —died in the fire. Their joint funeral takes place Monday, while two other children remain in critical condition.
  • Judge Andrew Gubbins remanded both defendants in custody until Tuesday. Stacey will appear via videolink at Waterfront District Court, while Dalton appears at Waterford District Court.
  • Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly said significant progress has been made in the investigation, with seven searches conducted and further arrests expected in connection with the fatal attack.
