- Under the Maharashtra Bike Taxi Rules, every driver must possess a valid licence under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, along with a public service vehicle badge issued under the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
- The State Transport Authority issued 30-day temporary licences to aggregator companies Uber India Systems Pvt Ltd, Rapido operator Roppen Transportation Services Pvt Ltd, and ANI Technologies Pvt Ltd, which operates Ola, with conditions to be met within one month.
- Authorities identified 814 vehicles operating without permits between April 2025 and March 2026, subsequently seizing 151 vehicles, registering 14 FIRs, and collecting Rs 16.25 lakh in fines from April to May 2026.
- Sarnaik stated the proposed rules await approval from the Law and Judiciary Department; under these regulations, bike taxi operators must pay a daily government fee of Rs 5, with Rs 2 from every trip credited to a driver welfare fund.
