The United States tightened its stance against Venezuela on Tuesday in the United Nations Security Council, where its permanent ambassador, Mike Waltz, said Washington will impose “to the maximum” sanctions against the government of Nicolás Maduro and will use “all its power” to confront drug cartels, amid an increasing escalation of diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Maduro claims that Venezuela is receiving "overwhelming support" from the UN Security Council, in the face of growing pressure from the US.
