The total lunar eclipse, known as a Blood Moon, will last about 1 hour and 23 minutes during Earth's shadow fully covering the Moon, PAGASA said.
- A total lunar eclipse, known as a Blood Moon, will occur from September 7 to 8, 2025, visible across Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
- This event occurs when Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow that causes the Moon to take on a reddish color as sunlight is filtered through Earth’s atmosphere.
- The eclipse will last about five and a half hours with totality lasting 82 minutes, and it will be observable without special eyewear though binoculars can enhance the view.
- Over 7 billion individuals around the world will have the opportunity to witness the eclipse, with approximately 6.2 billion able to view the entire event; however, most of North and South America will miss it due to daylight conditions.
- Following the eclipse, Neptune will reach opposition on September 21, shining at its brightest, and the partial solar eclipse will occur on September 21, visible mainly from New Zealand, Antarctica, and parts of Australia's east coast.
