Lightning blamed for pier damage - The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald

LEWISTON WOODVILLE – A public fishing access pier located on the Roanoke River near here is currently closed due to damage from a thunderstorm. Sgt. Parks Moss of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said he was notified July 3 that the pier was on fire at the Lewiston Woodville Boating and Fishing Access Area off of Weeping Mary Road.
