On Monday, at 10:00 PM (CET), the Empire State Building in New York City was illuminated with red and white lights to mark Poland's Independence Day. The symbolic switching on of the lights was performed by the captain of the Polish national football team, Robert Lewandowski.
This is intended as a gesture of recognition for Polish history and culture, as well as for the millions of Poles living in America.
It's going to be a red-and-white evening in Manhattan. As RMF FM correspondent Paweł Żuchowski reports, New York's iconic Empire State Building will be lit up in Poland's national colors. The symbolic gesture will be made by one of the most famous Poles currently on the pitch, our Barcelona-based sniper Robert Lewandowski.
