Letter: From ICE raids to the gutting of USAID, I don’t understand how LDS politicians can stay silent in the face of suffering
My parents and LDS Church leaders taught me about our responsibility to care for the poor and needy. The Book of Mormon leader King Benjamin taught that followers of Jesus, “administer of [their] substance unto him that standeth in need (Mosiah 4:16).” Jesus taught using the story of the Good Samaritan to love and care for all of God’s children. I believe that followers “succor the weak [and] lift up the hands which hang down (D&C 81:5).”
