- The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council challenged the proposal on Sunday, questioning its legal basis under the Petroleum Industry Act and warning that preferentially priced crude could reduce revenue to federal, state and local governments.
- Citing the conversion of more than 120,000 vehicles to compressed natural gas , government officials defended their current strategy, noting that commuters in seven states are already paying between 31 and 83 per cent less on routes served by CNG and electric buses.
- Otunba Segun Showunmi, chief promoter of the Alternative Movement, criticized the proposal on Saturday, describing those pushing for subsidy restoration as 'overtly and inordinately ambitious' and warning that Nigeria would not return to past fiscal crises.
- The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority stated on Saturday that 'no such market failure has been declared,' while the APC-PCC recalled Atiku previously describing the subsidy system as fraudulent during his 2022 campaign.
