Legacy Elementary Opens in Uvalde Featuring Upgraded Security and Tribute to Robb Shooting Victims
Legacy Elementary features 36 classrooms and tributes to 21 victims, supporting healing in Uvalde with a $60 million campus built after the 2022 shooting, officials said.
- On Friday, Legacy Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas opened with a public ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m., and classes will begin on Oct. 20.
- The Uvalde CISD Moving Forward Foundation raised more than $60 million, with the plan initiated two years ago and the project a three-year work in progress.
- The 116,000 square foot campus includes 36 classrooms, can serve up to 800 students, and features keyless entry, privacy gates, a visitor waiting area, and a first-responder road.
