European lawmakers have moved a step closer to overhauling generous airline compensation rules for delayed or canceled flights, and the proposed revisions are bad news for passengers. The European Union Transport Ministers reached an agreement on the revision of the regulation on the rights of air passengers.
While passengers can claim up to €600 in compensation for a delay of more than three hours in their flight, the 27 Member States of the European Union agreed on Thursday 5 June to reduce this amount. The text is now to be discussed in the European Parliament.
Bad news for air travellers: compensation for passengers in the event of aircraft delays will be reduced throughout the EU.
