For contributing to the conservation of biodiversity, improving water quality and community development, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) yesterday designated Lake Texcoco as a demonstration site of ecohydrology, the first of its kind in Mexico, of the 63 existing in the world.
