Mendis Out of T20 Series Against England
Sri Lanka Cricket said Kusal Mendis is out with a hamstring injury, and Charith Asalanka will lead the three-match series.
On Friday, Sri Lanka Cricket announced that white-ball captain Kusal Mendis will miss the T20I series against England due to injury, with Charith Asalanka taking over as captain for the three-match series.
Mendis suffered a right hamstring injury while pacer Binura Fernando sustained a back injury; both are undergoing rehabilitation and will miss the series.
Batsman Pavan Rathnayake and fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka have been named as replacements for the injured duo, though Mendis's availability for the ODI leg remains unconfirmed.
The T20I series begins September 15 at Southampton, with the second match two days later in Cardiff and the final T20I on September 19 at Manchester.
Following the T20Is, the ODI series begins September 22 at Chester-le-Street, followed by matches at Headingley on September 24 and The Oval on September 27.
