Kremlin accuses Ukraine of threatening sovereignty of close Russian ally Belarus
The Kremlin called Kyiv’s warning an attack on Belarus’s sovereignty as Ukraine gave Minsk seven days to remove relay stations used for Russian strikes.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko plan to meet to discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's ultimatum, which demanded Minsk remove signal repeaters aiding Russian drone strikes within seven days of his Friday declaration.
Kyiv issued the seven-day deadline on Friday after intelligence linked Belarusian signal relay stations to Russian loitering munition strikes against Ukrainian cities, threatening independent neutralization if Belarus refuses.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned the ultimatum, calling the threat "an absolutely aggressive threat, interference in the internal affairs of another country, and an encroachment on the sovereignty of another country."
Putin and Lukashenko are expected to discuss the situation "in the foreseeable future," while Belarus continues hosting Russian tactical nuclear weapons without committing troops to the conflict.
Intelligence reports indicate Russian efforts to integrate Belarusian infrastructure into its invasion, with potential hybrid operations targeting neighboring NATO members amid escalating tensions.
