- On January 29 the KPCC legal team filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Bengaluru alleging BJP Karnataka's X account circulated defamatory content targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, with a post showing edited images labelled `Scam Lords`.
- According to the complaint, the BJP Karnataka X post included a poster with `This is not a story of scams; this is a story of scamsters.` and used `scam` and `loot` to malign leaders, N. Narendra noted.
- Named targets included Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Santosh Lad, and B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, with the KPCC legal cell and N. Narendra seeking action against Karnataka BJP's X handle administrators.
- Police officials told News agency ANI they accepted the complaint, registered a case and said further investigation is underway.
- The Congress argued the post sought to defame leaders and create confusion, saying accused edited images amounted to character assassination risking public peace and social order.
