Maroof Easakhail, a 33-year-old Afghan, was tried for setting fire to his pregnant partner's apartment in 2022. At the hearing on Thursday, he presented a new explanation, assuring that the fire was a shared project to get insurance.
The penalty is lower than that of the Advocate General, who had applied for 30 years in prison.
